Your data, plainly.
What Flirk collects, why, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it.

1About this policy
This policy explains how Flirk (“Flirk”, “we”, “us”) handles the personal data of people who use the Flirk app on Android and iOS and the website letsflirk.com. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act), we are the Data Fiduciary for that data.
We use your personal data with your consent, which you give when you sign up, and again for your selfie when you take it. We also use it without consent where the law allows, for example to meet a legal obligation or to respond to a court order or a lawful request.
You can ask us for this policy in English or in any language listed in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.
2What we collect, and why
We collect only what Flirk needs to work and to keep people safe.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Phone number | To create your account, sign you in with a one-time code, keep to one account per person, and connect you to invites friends send you. |
| Date of birth | To confirm you are 18 or over. Other people see your age, never the date. |
| Profile details: first name, gender, who you would like to meet, city, and what brought you to Flirk | To build your World, to suggest people you might like, and to show you to people who might like you. |
| A live selfie | Taken in the app with your camera. To create your illustrated portrait, to confirm you are a real person, and to check that the face matches the gender you told us, so fake profiles can be reviewed by a person. It is never shown to other people. |
| A face template | Created from your selfie. Used to check that photos you add to your vault are really of you. It is never shown to anyone. |
| Your World: portrait, taste picks, answers, the lines you write, and an optional voice clip | To show other people who you are, and to suggest people you might like. |
| Hidden photos (optional) | Photos you choose to add to your vault. They are checked before they go live, and only people you allow can see them. |
| Flirks, messages, games, and the people you pass or block | To deliver what you send and play, to keep apart people who should not see each other, and to keep Flirk safe. |
| Reports | If you report someone, or someone reports you: the report and the content it concerns, so that we can review it and act on it. |
| Purchases | What you buy and your credit balance, to give you what you paid for and to prevent fraud. |
| Device and technical data: device identifiers, notification token, device type, app version, IP address, crash reports | To send you notifications, keep Flirk working and secure, fix problems, and stop banned accounts from coming back. |
| How you use Flirk: what you open, send, accept and pass, and how you spend your time in the app | To run, improve and personalise Flirk, including the suggestions you see. |
| Your consents | Which consents you gave or withdrew, and when. |
| A friend’s number, if you invite them | Kept only in a protected form, so that the invite reaches your friend if they join. Deleted if they do not. |
What we do not collect
- Your contacts list. When you invite a friend, we receive only the one number you choose.
- Your device’s location. You tell us your city.
- Your card or bank details. Google Play and the App Store handle payment.
On letsflirk.com
The website uses cookies for Flirk’s advertising. Until your number is verified, what you type stays in your browser. After that, what you build is stored exactly as it is in the app, and your session ends, at the latest, when you close the tab. We use privacy-friendly analytics that count visits without identifying you.
4How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or for longer where the law requires it.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your account: your profile, your World, your selfie and everything created from it (including your face template), hidden photos, voice clip, activity, purchases, consents and devices | While your account is open. Erased when your account is deleted (see below). |
| Messages | Until either person in the conversation deletes their account. They are then removed for both people, except as described under reports below. |
| Requests that expire or are declined, games that finish, and invites nobody claims | Deleted within 60 days. |
| How you use Flirk | Kept for analytics, without your name, number or messages. After your account is erased, it is not linked back to you. |
| Technical and security logs | For a limited period, for security and troubleshooting. |
| Reports, the content they concern, and any action taken | Kept after the accounts involved are deleted, for as long as needed to protect users, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. If an account has been reported, its conversations, including the other person’s messages, may be kept for the same reasons after it is deleted. |
| Ban and suspension records | If an account is banned or suspended, we keep a protected form of its phone number and device identifiers for as long as the ban or suspension lasts, even if the account is deleted. |
| Your registration record: your phone number and the dates you joined and left | For 180 days after your account is erased, as Indian law requires. Used only to answer lawful requests, then deleted. |
Deleting your account
Delete your account in the app under Account › About & legal › Delete my account, or at letsflirk.com/delete-account. Your World is hidden from everyone straight away. We erase your account 30 days later; if you sign back in before then, you can choose to keep it. After that, erasure is permanent.
If you would rather take a break, Pause my account hides your World without deleting anything.
5Your rights and choices
Under the DPDP Act you can:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you, how we use it, and which other organisations we have shared it with.
- Correct or update it. You can edit most of your World in the app at any time; for anything you cannot change yourself, write to us.
- Erase it, by deleting your account as described above.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to us. If you withdraw consent for your selfie, we delete it and your face template, and you will no longer be able to add hidden photos or retake your portrait. Without consent to use your data at all we cannot run your account, so we will treat that as a request to delete it. Withdrawing does not affect what we did before.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
- Complain to our grievance officer and, if you are not satisfied with the answer, to the Data Protection Board of India.
Send any request to grievances@letsflirk.com. We acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 15 days. We may ask you to confirm the request from the phone number on your account, so that we never give one person’s data to someone else.
6How we protect it
We protect your data with safeguards that include encryption in transit and at rest, and strict limits on who and what can access it. Your selfie and face template are never accessible to other users.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
7Children
Flirk is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data about anyone under 18; if we find we have, we delete it, except anything the law requires us to keep. If you think someone on Flirk is under 18, report them in the app or write to us. Our child safety standards explain what happens next.
8Changes, and how to reach us
We may update this policy. When we do, we change the date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
Grievance officer
Our grievance officer is named in the app under Account › Safety centre › Seek help, and can be reached at grievances@letsflirk.com for any question, request or complaint about your personal data.
